  • Kishori Amonkar is living Saraswati among us as she makes you feel that eternal essence no other singer can taste. Every time i listen to Kishoti tai, she always brings tears in my eyes and a sense of "reached home" feeling... It is hard to explain what she sings but definitely they are beyond notes and "typical" bandish etc.

  • With due respect to you all... It is wrong to compare such great singers.. Begum Parveen sultana and Kishori ji are brilliant singers. I think it would not be right to judge such great singers with our limited knowledge of Music.

    No Hard feelings!

Thanks for your kind words! We ( I, specially) can only thank Lord Krisna to have at least granted me the brains to understand even an iota of His greatness! i have NO OPTION but to surrender to bhakti in my own insignificant way! I cant thank Him enough at least to have given me the siritual eyesight!

    Hi,

I remember at school i had to study the poem " oli padaitha kaninai va va va " and urudi konda nenjinai va va va !,by Subrahmanya Bharathiyar! I can remember only 2 lines! it is many years since i came in contact with Tamil and i am currently reading the novel by Sri Kalki Krishna Murthy! ( like Parthiban Kanavu)The poem you mention sounds sublime and will look for his poetry collection next time I visit Bangaore!

He was Nodoubt a great soul!

  • @Psyche1954 Well some people just don't have a pure intelligence. It's all about Sanskaras really. Take a look at Karunanidhi. An apostate wretch who can even dare to think what he said about Lord Ramacandra, should be destroyed. And Providence is doing just that. I loved to see the enthusiasm in your post. Jai Sri Krsna.

Even today,Sanatana Dharma continues to be unaffected by either abrahamic propaganda or neo modernist sexual permissiveness! Our sculptures of khujuraho predates sex pistols or doggy shoopshoop or disgusting rock idols weeing on stage!!Our Culture litrature and music celebrates Creation and humanity and LIFE! period!

I only wish cultureless morons like Arundhati Roy and DMK and MKK and demented historians like Romilla Thapar and Panikar understand this!

    Philistines!!

thanks for the recognition between physical act of LOVE and he spiritual/emotional aspects of thedivine Love! the Love between Krishna ad his countless female admirers is the attraction beween the soul and its object of desire, to achieve oneness with its maker, Lord Krishna! We In India did not burden love/Sex with guilt but celebrated sex as a means of procreation and the gift of Life! The Guilt associated with sex is the gift of catholicism, and jesuit priests/ missionaries

  • @Psyche1954 I LOVE how all these traditional renditions are all centered around Sri Krsna's RIDICULOUS pastimes! Where is our culture going to? I want more of this, please.

  • so beautiful

  • @bandodkar Just a humble question for you, Ustadji: Who the hell are you to judge between two living incarnations of music? And, a humble observation too, sir: Spouting off your opinion won't exactly nurture our good opinion of your words. It makes it very hard to take you seriously. It is IMPOSSIBLE to compare two singers, especially when you're talking about the doyens of two different Gharanas. It's really uneducated, too. But, do as you wish; ignorance IS bliss for some, I guess.

  • Kishoritai is the gem in the Hindustani Classical music.
