I think its blurry because you didn't put it in macro mode. I did a lot of research too. I've been with Canon products for years. I think I might get one too.

and the blur is just how the focus is only on the flower and not the leaves

yeah its a nice and the best of all compact cameras
If u want something better (and bigger :P) buy a dSLR :)
