  • How much is this one? uF nF ?? Did you test it in a capacimeter or in a oscilloscope?

  • actually, I measured the square area of the metal plates and did the math. Fortunately, there are a few proggies out there that do all of that for people, these days.

  • Does it works? Cause I know a diferent very tipe of capacitor

  • sure, within the limits of the dielectric and the voltage applied. Do let me know about that other type of capacitor. There are all kinds, although they all work in similar fashions.

  • i found putting packaging tape around the metal reduces the corona and efficency but then you get to much capacitance and it is to much for the high voltage source which i found out the hard way that means you have to use a thinner dialectric

  • Too much capacitance? I'll have to think on that. I use high voltage with almost no current in most of my research.

  • cool.

  • @jctssolutions what is the estimated or tested breakdown voltage for the dielectric in your capacitor?

  • What's the highest voltage pop bottle medium can handle?

  • Could you explain this a little more clearly?

  • You think a sharp box cutter/knife would be more helpful in cutting this stuff? I oughtta try this :D . Thx!

  • if u plate the aluminun in gold would it hold a bigger chanrge since gold is a good conductor

  • can this type of capacitor work on a low watt tesla coil

  • It's simple, you take aluminium foil and get a long sheet and then u cut it in the horizontal in the midle and tape one copper wire in each sheet. After that you put a isolanting material between the foil, under and over like a sandwich. After that it's just roll. ( I used as isolanting material a plastic that i don't know the name in english but in my country it's called "filme de PVC" tipe it on google to see what I'm talking)
