The first clip is exactly a year ago today. Bad omen for having my first lesson of the year today, but he didn't put a foot wrong and we even jumped the wall first time ♥ Mega pleased with him. No clips as had no one to video, but going to a show Sunday so will have a nice little vid then hopefully :)
Thanks to xxxbeccaxrxxx for allowing me to use her edited version of the quote :) Check her out and sub; amazing rider!
2011 was very much a rollercoaster year. As you see from the vid, we started the year with a nice refusal which ended up with me falling off. We got better from there, and placed 2nd in both classes at our first show of the year, then 2nd and 3rd at the next show and qualified for Chiltern & Thames Summer SJ finals. Then we started working on Patchetts.
He had only ever been to Patchetts once before, in December 2010, and had refused and been eliminated at the first fence due to fillers. Our next time here was April 2011 and we got round with just one pole down, which was a huge improvement! In May, we returned to Patchetts and went clear in the first round, but he decided that there were sea monsters under the wavy plank that was the first jump of the jump off and refused to go near it. Still, an improvement was made. Our next time at Patchetts in June we got just 4 faults for a pole down in the jump off for the 70cm class, and then tried to 80cm class in which we just had one pole down, so again there was a big improvement. When we went to Patchetts in August, we had our first double clear there, and super horse went fast enough to place 2nd, even though I didn't push him on at all in the jump off! What a star!!
The Chiltern Thames finals in September we had faults in the class, but only one person went clear, and therefore we managed to place 5th, which I was pleased with considering it was our first ever championship.
In July, we also went to a small show at a local yard. We got a double clear and placed 2nd, and proceeded to place 5th in their show jumping league which was a shock considering it was the only one of the show jumping series we had competed in there.
We also went to a local pony club show in June and went double clear in both classes, but due to the ground being a bit iffy I held him back a bit in the jump off, and then there were speedy pony club ponies whizzing round so we didn't place, but I was still proud of him.
This year, I hope to just keep getting better and better. I would love to be able to enter a BSJA on a ticket by the end of the year, and be competing in 80cm classes but we'll just see how things go. I'm not going to push him just to seem like I'm some amazing rider, because I know he will be a star if he is just given the time to mature on his own.
