  • I think Jeffrey Sachs is doing everything in his considerable power and everything he can think of to end poverty and improve economic conditions. He has been willing to work with governments and government solutions, but is also willing to do whatever he thinks is practical. I hope to present to him our contribution to this cause.

Africans have been living in their 'natural habitat' for thousands of years - and may even be the birthplace of humans if we are to believe that. What have they achieved on their own ? Nothing. Africans until very recently had a lifestyle not very different from beavers. They did not have a culture, a history or anything until the white man arrived. And even today in the western world, they are little more than parasites on society.

  • @DoubleGauss you have no idea what your talking about.

  • this interviewer is annoying! Dude I know you think highly of yourself but its rude to cut off your subject mid-sentence! Especially since you asked him the question

  • I like how he thinks.

  • It's a pity he's massively helped to increase poverty in the world with his 'shock therapy' as he calls it.

  • @DoubleGauss I must say, it is a sad state of affairs if people still have troubles realizing that Africans have a definite culture, art form, and religion. To say they are "primitive" is nothing more then ethnocentrism that has dated back as far as the 1800s where people rationalized a hierarchy of humanity by comparing humans in evolutionary terms. Or, in other words, how both imperialism and slavery were made "socially acceptable."

  • The first step to rehabbing Africa is to carpet bomb their govt headquarters and their military. Then teach the monkeys how to live like humans. Civilization and economic development will take a few hundred years, if ever.

On second thoughts why even bother ? They seem to be perfectly happy living in forests with other animals and being part of the eco system. Let them live in their natural habitat.

  • read The Shock Doctrine- Naomi Klein.

  • @lavallij What does he say then? Sachs has NO solution.

  • @ZACHinSF I don't know what kind of calling you are talking about? Just because you want to help others doesn't mean you should force me to help them too by using my (tax) money. Foreign aid is even unconstitutional. But since we both care about starving children, let's use that as our starting point. Africa has been injected with foreign aid and their economies managed by these UN PhDs for decades now. The result: ZERO DEVELOPMENT. As I've said, foreign aid empowers dictators.
