It was an upgrade, the only real changes were upgraded turrets to hold the new guns, the new guns themselves, thicker side armor, and 2 extra medium gun turrets on the sides.
An entirely new battleship design would be a total redesign from the ground up with major changes to almost all aspects. From the Kongo/Fuso battleship to the Yamato were examples of an entirely new design.

No, the Yamato class battleships has nine 460mm (18.1") naval rifles, capable of firing 1,994 kg shells over 26 miles. The "Super Yamato", or Design A-150, was an entirely new battleship design, not an "upgrade" like this game says, which was planned to be fitted with six 20" guns, that would make it the most powerful battleship created.

I don't know, I cant play this game on my pc. Try creating a new profile, or maybe you just didn't register the one you have now.
