  • well i collect knives.. i never carry one. and the conversation is very consuming. its like if u say somthing to them thier gonna stab you it really pisses me off that ppl cant go downtown without carrying a knife!..

and bullying to gain 'respect'.. i would respect them if they dident talk about stuff like that or even doing it. if they really would do it.

a knife is a tool not a weapon.

  • Thank you. That is exactly what I have been trying to explain.

  • theres alot of fuc*ked up people out there its sad =(

  • thats why i carry a gun, but hope to god i never have to use it

  • Any kind of switchblade IS illegal to sell but any kind of switchblade is NOT illegal to own. Most knives, switchblade or otherwise, have a safety lock.Old style Swiss Army Knives, for example, simply 'hold' the blade open with a spring, so the knife can close on your fingers accidentally. Safety locks prevent this from happening.

I use my knives for opening mail, parcels, packaging, cutting food, string, cord, loose threads, dead skin, prying, cleaning my nails, as a screwdriver, all sorts of stuff!

  • Thank you for clarifying that. I have done some research myself now and understand that the only knives which are like switchblades that are illegal to buy in the UK are those that 'lock'. What do you use your knives for may I ask?

  • Switchblades are not illegal to own in the UK. It is legal to carry a knife if it folds and the cutting edge is 3" or less. You can also carry any knife if you have a reasonable excuse e.g. camping, hunting etc.

Switchlades are like any other knife except they open with the push of a button instead of a thumb-hole, thumb-stud or nail-nick. The uses are just the same. Some people prefer them, others find regular knives better. To me, they're just more convenient, reliable and easier to use.

  • It is sad, but it's the way life is now. It's the same way here in America.

You seem like a nice person. I'm sorry you are forced to live in fear.

The only way to survive is to be prepared and for moral, law abiding people to stand together.

Our governments refuse to put a stop to ignorant people degrading the fabric of civilized society.

We CANNOT depend on our governments to protect us any longer. This should be obvious.

I wish you all the best from across the pond.

  • Thank you for your intelligent response. I really do appreciate your POV.
