San Franciscans gathered to watch the inauguration of President Barack Obama sing the United States' national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner," after Obama took the oath of office. The sound on this video, unfortunately, does not reveal how enthusiastically people sang. San Francisco is widely regarded as a reserved and cynical place, but the air at this event was alive with pride, patriotism, expectation and hope. I have lived in San Francisco for most of my life, and I have never seen anything like it.
Beautiful sight! Strange to think that San Francisco is as far away from New York City as Lisbon is from Istanbul and yet we all speak the same language, share the same values, and live under the same flag.
Thanks for posting it tpretesf!
