these old trailers give away everything and make the movies seem weird. tree of life trailer gave me a brain boner.

It turns into Amityville Horror at 1:47.

Gotta say, 'Badlands' and 'Days of Heaven' are my favorite Malick films. 'Thin Red Line' and 'New World' are great too. 'Tree of Life' is like watching bank commercials and hoping for a narrative.

"Badlands" is his most traditional film, although pretty slowly paced still. Don't let the trailer fool you, this movie is very much in the same vein as his more recent work. If you loved those you'll love this.

Are his early films like his recent films? Like long artistic films without much dialogue or are they more traditionally scripted?

Typical Hollywood, taking a poet, thought-provoking masterpiece and making it look like typical soap opera melodrama in the trailer.

Too bad Terrence Malick's movies today don't have the quality of cinematography that Days Of Heaven had, Now it's all this white light blocking out the picture. And worst, they get praised.

Days of Heaven probably has the most beautiful cinematography in film history. I love it.

fun fact! this entire film was shot before the sun came up in the morning or down at night....film makers refer to this as "happy hour" because the light bounces off of everything and it create a beatiful natural effect. HOWEVER....since magic hour only lasted arox. a half an hour, they would have to wait all day to shoot and do as many shot as they can in the time frame of 30 minutes.....then waited for the next day to start shooting again! hahaha

Yes, Terence Malick was a student of Martin Heidegger who was preoccupied by the problem of Being, the experience of sheer existence. Malick it seems intended to convey the mystery of our finite lives...

The time it must have taken to film this movie...mainly shooting during magic hour is inconvenient as hell.. but super impressive and super beautiful.
