Swanee River (Old Folks At Home) on dulcimer and guitar

While traveling home from Florida last week my path crossed the Suwannee in two states and in two different Stephen Foster State Parks . Having dipped my toes in the River I found it facinating that I yearned as nostalgicly for the river and family and friends that lived near by just as the lyrics suggest. I found myself humming the tune and when I got home I worked out l ittle snippet of the song. I sanitized its offensive lyrics and included a lesser known verse for the second. I only did one verse before the chorus and a purist would have played two.. I played the dulcimer in G thinking I was going to add dobro but decided against it but left it in G anyway (capoed at third fret...and played the melody on the two lower strings instead of the two higher ones. Very beautiful, David! Isn't this one of two Stephen Foster songs that became state songs, My Old Kentucky Home being the other one? At any rate, your playing is so smooth and gentle - very pleasant to listen to! Thanks!
