While not an operational temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Kirtland Temple is rich in Church History. In this temple, Mormons believe Joseph Smith saw God the Father, and Jesus Christ reveal all the keys of the last dispensation to him, including the restoration of Sealing of Eternal Families and the coming of Elijah. (which Jews are still awaiting to date)

  • I believe you can be "mormon" and either LDS, CoC, and other Restoration Churches. Listen to the Mormon Matters & Mormon Stories Podcasts. Self-Identifying as "mormon" is more than one particular "church" but a way of living

  • @robbkcmo very true!

  • Michael, respectfully, that depends on your point of view. From our point of view they broke away from us. In fact other sects apart from the C of C and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will also say we, and they broke away from them. It's all a matter of which one is the true LDS church - we believe that is us.

  • @michaelwruch correct you are. The U.S. Supreme Court has even ruled on the subject. Utah Mormons are not the real ones.

  • Never knew about the rich history until I moved to the area and saw the tour buses. My daughter and I did a tour of the museum and it is very interesting and informative.

  • @michealwruch, by saying that you say that every time a new prophet comes along the church changes completely.

  • @russelelane You know why most tourist there are Moromon? They think they own it and the leaders in Utah don't do anything to tell the members any different. The Utah Mormons never owned the Kirtland Temple.

  • @michaelwruch So are you *Temple Lot* or *Deer Park*?

  • @AmphantomHMroc Community of Christ has NEVER changed anything within the Book Of Mormon. The Utah based Mormon church gets to deal with those claims. They change the text whenever it suits their needs.
