I was there today. Saw both entrnces to the site, the one on Parkway dr. and the CIL entrance. Entered via CIL as to not tresspass the properties in the current town. Didn't cross any fence lines, as easy as it wold have been. Only saw one structure, and a sewer system, where the streets would have been. Saw all I could without property damage or tresspassing.

@TRCgeologist I lived in a couple of houses in the part that was abandoned in 1959. When I was a child there in the 50's there used to be lots of grassy clearings on the streets that we lived on. Later I read ( In the history of Atomic Energy of Canada) that when Nobel was found unsuitable for the NRU & NRX reactors they took buildings from the Nobel village and trucked them to Deep River. Hence all the clearings that us kids used to play in.
Nobel was a wonder full place to grow up.

I used to have friends from nobel!!!! " but i cant remember who!!!! LMAO!! that sounds funny!!!
If you are looking for maps and more information about this CIL and DIL property, you should try going to the Museum, and asking, cause the original name of the town that surrounded that property was not Nobel it was Armbro, and then was changed to Nobel later when the factory open around the time of the first world war. Its interesting stuff, but you should incorporate that there is a difference between the area your speaking of and the one the exsists to this day.

I could refer to it as Armbro as you suggest, but that would be incorrect - more than one historical source states that the original name for the community was Ambo when the lands used for munitions and aerospace testing were purchased by Lankford.
The town was renamed Nobel before the village to the south was built - this "ghost town" was the original Nobel.

ya, but its not a ghost town, it was just abandon, you make it sound like it haunted or something! lol oh well

Nobel is only haunted by the functionally illiterate.

May I ask where you got this information about Nobel being a ghost town? I've lived there my whole life and all of my family, and I have NEVER heard of a abandoned town of Nobel...hahaha there is a non abandoned town of Nobel....lol

ontarioabandonedplaces(dot)com(forward slash)nobel(forward slash)nobel2(dot)asp ...or just google "nobel ontario"
The "town" consisted mainly of structures built on and around the C-i-l factory. The handful of dwellings originally built just north of the current town of Nobel were the extent of the original town.
I grew up in the area too...
