  • Sorry guys ! But we don't live in a vacuum ! Well at lest I don't ! :)

  • Natural convection tends to favor warm air rising driving cooling by mass transfer of air BUT the main heat transfer mechanism here is conduction to the heat sink. With driven cooling (fans), mounting orientation would have little to no effect on heat flow.

  • @SolutionByEvolution Well that may be what they teach you in school but from my experiences with metal working over the last 30+ years has tought me , if you and heating a peice of metal you better be hanging on to it below the heating point !LOL :)

  • get a zilla already

  • They are closing shop ya know as soon as they finish making the ones that are backlogged and already on order . And a Zilla would cost more than I've spent on the whole project . J.W. :)

See the difference between power electronics that operate at 30-100C and a burner flame at 1500 or 3200C? Experience with metal work is no match to common sense and experience with electronics and semiconductors, when the topic at hand is semiconductors and not metal work.

  • Try to get a heat sink tunnel. With that tunnel you can heat your car in cold seasons and in summer you'll blow outside!

  • Just to keep it clear, Heat (energy) travels in all directions. Hot air rises brcause it is less dense.

You can heat the top of a vertical metal bar, and the heat will travel to the bottom just as quick as if you heated the bottom. The heat energy is restricted by the insulating value of materials, not gravity.

  • You will probably get more get cooling by blowing - not drawing - air thru heatsink. Just some wise words :) If you insist on drawing principe, then make the visible fins ducted.

  • So since heat rises; is the board above the items that generate the heat trapping that heat like a ceiling?

  • I am doing the math on my 95 Saturn same style. I must say ww321 you know how to do this on the cheap, but I can tell your know how is helping you out in a big way. fun videos
