Kepler-22b reminds me of terra nova type stuff, I'd jump on the opportunity to go there and restart civilization.

@Sarothis you also have to remember that 600 years is a joke amount of time in the grand scheme of thing
-
@talk14 There is a telescope that observes the intention of the light from millions of stars. With the star Kepler 22 there was a difference of 0.005% every 280 days (or something like that). This is because of the planet moving in front of the star and blocking a small amount of light emitted from that star.

wait wait how did we find this planet then ? its that far!!!! the technolgy must be unexplanable
-
Don't let tom cruise watch this with the Scientology rip at the end also are you a physicist or just enjoy science
-
What if they invade if we sent them a transmission and then they enslave humanity D:
-
@DeanLeysen yes, but you forgot to take in the probability of the aliens who live over there having anti matter war and blowing up their own planet. so id take that "fairly sure" to a "maybe sure that the planet still exists".
-
Heh, Scietology burn.
-
They mean another place to send stupid people that will eventualy destroy it.

this is a first the ad was in a different language
Well but Kepler 22b is 600 Lightyears away right? So we just see it as it was 600 years ago and i could as well be already destroyed right?

@Sarothis yes, there is in fact no way for us to know whether or not it still exists, we can only be certain it did roughly 600 years ago. Judging by the stability of solar systems and the rarity of supernovas and such we can be fairly sure it's still there though, but it is ultimately a "guess" I suppose. :)
