@labelashavoc * I think that you will find that those are onigiri (rice balls) and the dark rectangular things on them are nori (A type of seaweed).

Typically, they will be stuffed with something salty/sour like fish, roe, kelp or even pickled fruit.

@GirlInRedShoes Yep, for a fan convention called Daicon 4 in Osaka, Japan back in the early eighties...later on, they went on to become one of the greats in anime, a company known as Gainax!
