I also recommend KOH postassium hydroxide. Your water will stay clean unlike using baking soda and pluse baking soda produces an extremely toxic amont of carbon dioxide.

use KOH buy it online on ebay. vinegar is a weak electrolite

I tried vinegar myself with tap water but used about a tablespoon to a quart. worked very well and cleaned my cell plates nicely. My local tap water has a very high concentration of lime. Please see my videos and comment or make suggestions if you have any.

If you diluted distilled white vinegar by adding 2 teaspoons per gallon of distilled water, then you didn't follow the vinegar electolyte recommendations. Since distilled white vinegar is only 5% acid by volume and the rest is distilled water, use straight vinegar, don't dilute it with water. It actually works pretty well and doesn't corrode as much as baking soda.

Thank you, I was wondering why the results were so poor. I was unable to find information on the ratios of vinegar to water, also I was not aware that it was only 5%. I will give it another shot, thanks!
