My son, daughter, nephew, and I take the Green Machine for its maiden voyage. Yes, they are wearing helmets. I have the blood to prove it was necessary.

If this doesn't look like the most fun you've ever had, it's probably because you have never been on one.

  • So kids must wear helmets on BigWheels and GreenMachines now,...WTF.

I challenge somebody to note one incident of a child getting a head injury on those things. You are only 6 inches from the ground. That is like wearing a life preserver while brushing your teeth.

  • @ohioplayerinva Big Wheels? No. Green Machines? Depends on the kid. Riding them in the 1970s, we watched kids banging their heads off the pavement almost daily. Once you get up a good amount of speed, and hit the spin, it really is uncontrollable -- which is the fun and the danger of it. As kids, we called it the Concussion Machine for a reason.

  • the kids got no skill, let dad drive it, he''ll show him how its done.

  • @RetroArcadia Keep in mind that at this point they have less than 5 minutes experience riding the Green Machine. They're all experts now.

  • go ride a bike, and leave this toy, this is just redicolous

  • @HSKshufle This is exactly the kind of thing someone says until they've ridden one.

  • @ohioplayerinva awesome comment!!! HAHAHAHAHA...

  • @TheHiltnerds serious the only time u should need a helmet is when your riding a dirtbike or a fourwheeler

  • My son was out on his Green Machine every day when he first got it. Now it sits unused in the shed. They are great fun until the novelty wears off.

  • I find it funny how small the first kid is. Someone down our street has one of these and i can hardly ride it when the seats all the way back... i am 6ft 3 though...

  • @RetroArcadia they are just kids trying it you have no skill at being nice

  • @ohioplayerinva The way I rode a Big Wheel back in the day, I wish I had a helmet and that my mom made me wear it.

  • i got this for christmas!

  • This thing needs a rack & pinion

  • @ohioplayerinva I so agree - i try not to laugh at the kids now a days but you could not pay me to wear a helmet i would have been banned from my Green Machine Club. Rule # 1 there are no helmets in the Green Machine Club Rule #2 There are NO helmets in the Green Machine Club !!

  • @TheHiltnerds I had one in the 70's as a kid and was wild on it on pavement. Never fell over nor witness any of my friends hit their heads. It was nothing but high speed fun.
