FS #144; FSV 133.
Had to recall that I had attended an NCAA men's basketball game this year and forgot to upload this fight song. (I'm ashamed!) The Miners of Texas-El Paso have this fight song that is derived from a song by Marty Robbins.
Do note, that when there is a stanza in the bridge that is for a specific gender to sing; one can sing both together, but in this case when it is a crowd at a game, the men sing their part (they extend the word "Mines") and the women join in to make it sound better; I have heard in the women's stanza "The" instead of "Go"- I believe that the older alums say the definite article.

  • Not saying, BTW, that it's not Mexican sounding, and no offense to anybody of Mexican ancestry. Just giving a glimpse of where the song came from. If I offended anybody, I apologize.

  • @ClarkeMarek : I'm partly Spanish, but there is no offense. I'm glad someone stepped up for some valuable research. Thanks.

  • Is this really Miners Fight? Isn't Miners Fight their old fight song, to the tune of Texas Fight?

  • one of the best sounding fight songs

  • @excelsior27 yw.

  • Mexican sounding? I'm not a UTEP fan, but I do know where the song came from. It's based off of "El Paso" by Marty Robbins. I believe his estate gets royalties for the song, but I could be mistaken.
