Absolutely ghastly!! Do you even understand what the original song was about you singing morons? Its a song of the 60's protesting the grotesqueness of war, and the dehumanization of people born in less favorable circumstances (the poor who end up in faceless armies). Its not a rock number! Its a political commentary delivered in a lyrical way with superb orchestration, emotion, poetry in the words, many meanings, and expressiveness which was why Brel is so famous. Don't butcher Brel!!!

This makes me want to do an entirely rock-arranged production of Jaques Brel is Alive and Well...

This is not a bad version, but "better than Alex Harvey" - you gotta be kidding me. Alex's version can make your skin crawl - this sounds a bit too cabaret to me.

Awesome!!! I saw Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living In Paris in Boston in 1971. You have done an outstanding job with this song. I love it.

I think this version is done better than the Alex Harvey Band. Alex Harvey just sounds weird to me...

They were both actors in the Off-Broadway Revival of Jacques Brel is Alive... It was an amazing show! In the show, the song was performed with more traditional orchestrations. Drew re-orchestrated it for his concert.

It was my favorite show I've ever seen! Unlike the original NYC Brel, this one had beautiful staging and choreography. Everything about it was gorgeous, simple, but beautiful. I don't want you to think it was some over-produced self-indulgent spectacle. It was beautiful and simple, but nevertheless staged, unlike the original. See 'Sons of' in my vids!
