Do liberals and conservatives have different brains? Is science in trouble in America? What is the point of 'asteroid mining'? Cara Santa Maria (senior science correspondent at The Huffington Post) leads this weeks panel to discuss these issues and more with PhD Tim Lee (scientist turned comedian), K.C. Cole (science writer, USC journalism professor), and Max Lugavere (filmmaker, musician, science journalist). Special thanks to Chris Mooney (author of 'The Republican Brain'), Linda Darling-Hammond (professor and author of 'The Flat World In Education'), and Phil Plait (The Bad Astronomy Blog) for sending in points.

How anyone could think otherwise is unthinkable. Hottest woman I've ever come across in 47 years, both inside and out.

Aren't they looking over the effect the fact that republicans mostly consist out of republicans and democrats out of younger has on the results? I also feel they neglected to signify the relevance of vesopressin in the brain. Vesopressin in (wo)men increases when they become parents and increases xenophobia in men whilst this same hormone causes good-heartedness in women which may explain these age differences in political preference.

The "sputnik" moment was the asteroid that slapped Russia in the face a few months ago. Since then, NASA has planned to capture an asteroid and never before have we seen such high interests in Congress and across the world to prevent an asteroid from causing significant damage.

It's VERY OBVIOUS you have no idea --- &, more than having no idea, you DON'T really care --- what you're babbling.

Even if students/young scientists did, & INDEED MANY DO (take yourself!), what would they *learn* when they *question* things "outside" of natural phenomena?

Praying to, quoting from, & the worshiping of Zeus, Thor, Jesus, Allah, Mohammed, Giri-Guru, etc DON'T DO SHIT to advance any knowledge or idea.

    That's a tail-less dog chasing its imaginary tail: it's just a NEUROSIS.

There´s a big difference in believing in a supernatural power, and putting that belief as a central feature of your public life. Also, believing in some supernatural power is far from subscribing to any code laid out by established religions or "Holy books" Still less wishing to have that as an argument for morality authority. Supernatural belief is often just short hand for ; beyond present understanding, the unknown.

Regarding global warming, um I mean climate change... it's a form of social control. I'm sure I have a smaller carbon footprint than Ted Turner or Al Gore and I have fewer children... yet I'm supposed to pay them a carbon tax so they can plant a tree in my name? WTF?

Solar variance impacts weather far more than man. However, if carbon is having an impact (and it very could be having a cumulative effect)-- saddling the lower and middle classes with carbon tax is pointless.

It's interesting to note than when the far left gets politically entrenched power... they historically seem to drift toward eugenics.

I can't take someone that defends GMO seriously at this point. The tumor studies are conclusive. Europe is laughing at us.
