I believe Stalin did a lot of bad things/bad actions however he did improve Russia/the USSR in positive ways, for example the life expectancy rate of the Russian people became a lot higher once Russia became Communist. And, it put an end to the feudal Tsarism which was possibly even worse than Communism because Tsarism used religion to convey the message, and as Karl Marx said "Religion is the opiate of the people", however in modern context, and once communism came about that is not so much.

Here's the thing:

Stalin kept everything domestically within the Union itself (other than the WWII, which Germany provoked.) The United States has killed millions innocent of Iraqis and Afghans, rooted their governments, imperialized the countries, and for what? Oil. Stalin might've killed people, but he interpreted them as "treason to the Union" (not that I'm saying that's right), but he developed a depleted Russian Empire to a great Union, 2nd in World Power. No wonder US went in-they feared.

Well stalin badly needed to dominate the media more than other dictators and facist governments; everyone knew he hated ordinary russians and christianity (the foci of the people), and it took alot to delude them to the contrary.
