Brammers tries to get to the Swing Lower geocache in Oxford (it's like a treasure hunt, see www.geocaching.com for details) but fails miserably. He's got plans for a second attempt though!

  • ha ha excellent, we went to assess this one last week too...just waiting for the boat now : )

  • I considered trying to hitch a lift to it but decided that would be a bit odd :)

  • Brilliant!!! I visited this cache site the other day to assess the level of difficulty & the kind of boat we would need to get hold of. Never occured to me that a piece of string could do the job! Have your wrists healed now?? If you think of another way of getting to the cache that does not involve a boat, please let me know, I'll come and support you ;-D

  • My hands are fine now thanks, there was only a little chafing in the first place :) shame I couldn't grab the cache like this but if I think of a different way I'll let you know!

  • nice video

  • Haha, yeah, although cats are scared of water! I reckon Basement Cat wouldn't be though, maybe it's time to do a deal with him :P

  • Of course, you could also get Longcat to reach it!

  • Haha, nice try. I had a look at it today - shall return sometime! And yes, you're not Yahtzee ;-)

  • What a great idea, thank you! Happy caching :)

  • I've cached in Oxford (and cache in other parts of Oxfordshire) but didn't attempt this cache due to lack of boat and general apathy. If you want to reach it on a student budget how about joining your uni climbing club and learn how to abseil properly (and safely) and have access to the proper equipment. Another option would be to make yourself a raft, pallets and barrels are available for free from round the back of most large industrial premises!

    Happy caching!
