Ka7niq here, Thanks for the Video OM, Especially like the choke container, it needs some of that GOOD Texas Chili in it, LOL

@hmanonbass Thanks for your reply. I did try a 4:1 balun but not get much change in performance However I think a unlun is what I need to make it work better on the other bands. Oerall, still very happy with the antenna.

RIP S9!!
I find it so ironic, John, that you put the greatly appreciated effort into these great videos, just to have the thing blown to pieces by a lightning strike and a true and ultimate lesson for us all!
Sorry for the loss! Appreciate the the lesson!!

Tnx for the comment and for following along with my videos. Since the video I've replaced the antenna, a couple of rigs and am back on the air.
Now, I take the antenna down when I'm not in the shack! Once is enough for me.

Hey John, thanks for the videos. I am looking for a solution as I do not have a lot of real estate to work with. My question is when running the radials, how deep do you burry them into the ground? Also, how close can they be together and still be efficient? Last, for 10 -40m how many would you use? Thanks very much VE5MJB

@1krusty1
Thanks for watching my videos and for your question. While I'm no expert, I can tell you how I did it. My radials are only about an inch deep. I’ve read where folks just put them on top of the ground and the grass grows and hides them nicely. I think I’ll do that next time! My vertical has about 32 radials of various lengths and spacing. I am certain it’s not the most efficient, but it seems to work for me.
Hope this helps!

John,
That S9v should work great.I have had a lot of success with my simple verticals.So far they have been 1/4 waves but I am going to try a half wave vertical for 17 meters soon.(Halfwave does not need such a big earth system!)
John,I wonder how many radials you have burried in your lawn?
Yet another interesting video!

Sandy,
Good question about the radials. Currently there are about 30 something. I lost count since I put them in over the course of several weeks.
Antenna is FB, worked two Austrian stations on 100 watts this morning.
