I was asked to recite some poetry & spoken word @ The Holy Joe's Infernal Cabaret for: www.mixtape.ie live in The Think Tank, Eustace Street, Dublin 2. Here is a direct link to the part that was aired with an interview too on the 4th of December 2009: http://www.mixtape.ie/?p=771

This is one of the things I recited that day: Eric Bogle's 'And The Band Plays Waltzing Matilda' I love this song and like to try and do it as spoken word as the story is so powerful. For more on Eric go to: http://ericbogle.net/

  • The best version since June Tabor.

  • @G58 thanks!

  • Hi stephen, saw this a couple of months ago when I brought 2 aussie friends for a weekend in Dublin in the international bar so you decided to do this as your first piece seeing as they were there! Made me cry, very embarassing in the middle of a bar.. had to get a napkin from Niall!

Thanks though for your card, finally found you now that I have to attempt to write some poetry for the first time and your voice was echoing in my head. X

  • @vassiliki08 hiya, jaysis thanks so much for your kind words! dont feel too bad, i have made several folks cry with my poor renditions before too! haha

i love reciting this, it is just a great abet sad story, and sometimes with the music i am not sure that is portraited.

great to hear you are putting pen to paper, will you be back at the international? if so please pop down and share your words with use!

    be good now!

    SJS x

Haha no worries, the kind words are well deserved! Stuck in sunny England for now but next time I save up enough pennies for a visit (blimey it's an expensive city!) I will be beelining for the international. Appropriate as it is!

    Keep it up mate Xx

  • @vassiliki08 that it is! where you based in england? i am sure there must be lots of spoken word and poetry events for you, why not head along and share your freshly written words! or email them on to me so i can have a read if you wish...
