I bought this Japanese Geisha doll from and antique store in Chesapeake, VA back in 1984 for $15. I had it stored in my closet all these years and just forgot about it. It has a stamp on the bottom Nishi ND Doll, Made in Japan and she stands on a musicbox that plays a tune I cannot identify, and that is why I need help here. Does anyone know the name of this tune? Does anyone know if it has any value? Its in mint condition. I hope someone can at least tell me the name of the tune. Thanks.

  • I bought one of these today for 4.95... have you had yours appraised?

  • I have not yet had my doll appraised. The next time the "antique road show" comes through town again, I will have it appraised, The video does not give this doll justice. She is so beautiful and delicate. Yours was $4.95 for the same exact doll? You got a bargain on her. I paid $20 for mine back in the 80's. If I ever get her appraised, I will post it right here.

  • It sounds kind of like "The song of youth" but also sounds like "Azuma Jishi..." I can't tell witch, because of the speed of the song, and the "ting" of the notes.

  • Thanks so much for your reply. I will check it out. Yes, the speed may be very well "off" since I do not have the key to wind her up correctly.

  • The song is called "Cherry Blooms" or "The Cherry Blossom Song" in English, and I think that in Japanese it is called "Sakura".
