You're right. I read a book many years ago about what aliens would look like and how we would react when contact is finally made.

Basically it said that it would make perfect sense that they would look similar to us. Two eyes for stereoscopic vision, fingers for manipulation of the environment, two legs for efficiency and allowing free upper body flexibility, etc.

One of the most facinating books I ever read. I wish I could remember the name of it, although I'm sure it's out of print now.
