This is a composite video from a VGA-to-composite converter box which is monitoring packet from a PC. Packet transmissions (using KN6PE's Outpost program) are from W6XSC-BBS 2meter Packet Net part of the Santa Clara County ARES/RACES system. Voice is from the audio fed from a microphone placed in front of radios to record Message Net, Command Net, and the EOC-to-EOC (lowband govt) radio. This covered a ARES/RACES drill for Santa Clara county held on July 21, 2007.
This is a concept demonstration of recording transmissions during the countywide ARES/RACES drill. Resolution in this file is terrible, it was better but barely readable in the original videotape. Lettersize could have been larger using a lower res PC. I recently acquired packet capability, was not available during the drill but I wanted to try something like this.
For more information on Santa Clara County ARES/RACES system, see http://www.scc-ares-races.org and http://www.svecs.net
Outpost is a windows-based program and used by participating EOCs and groups in Santa Clara County, it takes the pain out of packet. For more on this program developed by Jim KN6PE, see http://www.outpostpm.org
excellent work!

What a waste of time! Now I'm a Ham with an interest in Packet and this MAY have been of some interest but all it does is put Hams in the "wierd" section of the populace. Clear this rubbish off the air its no good to our cause.
