!!!!!!! -
Freni sings the hell out of this scene--on to heaven.

Ah, this is beautiful - no need to compare to other performances, though perhaps as good. This is beautiful.
I was at the Met new production dress this week, and just wept through the final chorus - bravo, my friends! This is such a timely story: addiction to youth, wealth and pleasure at the expense of others; and redemption. May it come to us all before it's too late.

Good but not equal to the performance by de los Angeles, di Stefano and Siepi that I heard in Minneapolis in May 1951. They were perfection in their parts.
-
-
Assolutamente i migliori...

This is actually from 1979 at Lyric Opera of Chicago. It was my first season there and my first opera. It was a brand new production and the first televised production for Lyric. Thanks for posting!

@stevevandien I saw that PBS production too-it was just wonderful. I remember being mesmerized by Alfredo Kraus in particular. Thanks for uploading this Oneguin65!
I want to go to that province where Kraus sings with Freni and Giaurov!
