She was smart enough to enter a competition that: A) could realistically win her thousands of dollars, B) will allow her to put something on her resume that will help propel her to some of the highest echelons of science (in both academia and practice), and C) aids in disseminating an easy-to-grasp notion that has important medical implications for any human being concerned with their health.

If sucralose passes right through to the urine but creates an environmental hazard, then we should just save our urine to be used as a sweetener. Just keep recycling your urine and you will never have to buy sucralose again. I'm such a genius!

I absolutely abhor the synthetic sweeteners. I use regular sugar but I realize if I consume a lot of sugar in a day I make sure to burn it off.

I try to stay away from splenda, equal, sweet and low, nutra-sweet, and other artificial sweeteners. They taste funny and made feel bad the times i tried them. Im glad someone took notice of the effects beyond the consumer. Nothing replaces the natural stuff, its just a matter of moderation. Don't eat too much of it.
