In this video I install dual alternators in a Ford F-350 Super Duty Powerstroke 7.3L Diesel. This is the first of 4 parts. I have tried to include all the information you need to know to do this modification yourself. Installing dual alternators is a pretty big job and there are a lot of ways to make a mistake, I know because I made (and corrected) most of them. Part 2 and 3 are finished and when they finish processing I will place links to them in part 1

Index:
@0:30 Parts list (later I had to use a different belt)
@3:50 The around the belt radiator hose installed
@4:20 How to remove the serpentine belt
@5:08 Where to bolt on the 2nd alternator bracket
@6:05 Alternator bracket loosely installed
@6:29 OEM stud bolt
@7:11 Link to Part 2

  • Thanks for the video very helpful. Adding this to both of my Ford F450 super duty. I won't have to splice any wires because both of my trucks have that plug you were talking about for the other alternator. But i am going to have to buy two sets of everything cause running my trucks with a plow is killing my lights. Thanks again for the part numbers.

  • @goodmtim8712: Make sure to get matching alternators so that they will play well together.

  • You spoke Greek, but fascinating anyway. I'm getting a Duramax in a couple of weeks and have the option of a dual alternator. What exactly would I use it for? I'm guessing extra for trailer lights, hitch? Other then that,,,,

  • @theroncon The main advantages of dual alternators are redundancy, higher amps at idle and of course higher amp output. Trailer lights don't use much juice but huge sound systems, winches, 120volt inverters, emergency lights and so forth can over burden a single alternator especially at idle.

  • @toadx8u Thanks. Make sure that you use matching alternators if you plan on combining them.

  • @mars1952 Im probably getting a 24 volt alternator for the lower side because Im going to be using it to charge an infrared trailer while driving to and from jobs

  • @mars1952 Yeah i have a guy that distributes alternators and he is giving my 4 200 amp alternators for cheap cause im also going to be running it differently in the summer

  • im trying to find a way to install 2 alternators in a 99 expedition any ideas?

  • @mars1952 Thanks dude.
