Mercedes-Benz S-class W140 S500 driving experience [FullHD 1080p]

This is my absolutely stock, well preserved Mercedes-Benz 1995 W140 S-classe
S 500 Lang ( V8, 326bhp). Almost 300.000km (190000 miles) on the dash. Rides perfectly, comfy (double-glazed windows, 4-zone automatic climate control, etc), no annoying noises.

0-100 Acceleration (best: ~7sec; ~8.5 on this vid), Daily driving, passing by, bumper cam

That's a wonderful car you have. Love the paint, love the engine and love W140 Mercedes. But could you tell me which is better 500 or 600 because I seriously consider buying one and I'm looking maily for a 600. Love the V12 but I want to know if 500 breaks less is it much cheaper to fix and is there a big difference in the consumption.

S500 V8 is far better option for this chassis.

Since V12 is longer and hotter, 2 of the cylinders are hidden behind the tip of the front window and overheat. There are several problems with that: constantly failing spark plugs, and mostly their cables (for the rearest 2/4 cylinders). Also the heads gaskets leak due to the uneven heat distribution in the head...

By going from 8 to 12 cyl you gain just 30-40bhp, a bit of torque.

However, the engine is 50-80 kilos heavier and this further affects the handling as it decreases the 47-48% weight of the rear end in a 8cyl (6cyl has almost 50/50...). If one chiptunes a V8 it becomes exactly as powerful as stock V12 (both HP and torque)

Newer chassises like W220 and especially W221 are built around V12.

This one (W140) was built around V8 and the V12 had to be tilted backwards just to fit in.

bravo! az ot skoro v usa iskam da si vzema podobna. S500 razbira, se. W140 sa chisto injinerno chudo. Radvam se, che ima entusiasti i v Bulgaria, koita imat pari za poddrajka i benzin za tazi chudesna kola.
