Join Nicolas Reveles for an introduction to Katya Kabanova, one of the most evocative works by Czech composer Leos Janácek. Katya combines both Romantic and 20th century music to create an intensely atmospheric and eloquently compelling drama, thoroughly modern yet steeped in Eastern European tradition. Dear Pieter you are wright! I agree with everything you said. Katya is so strong, moving, touching - that anybody who could not understand it could not be really sensitive...I admire this opera much more than Jenufa or the others because it´s so simple to understand and too powerful to get it so easily from my mind...Thank you for loving Janacek, I´am half Czech- half Ukrainian and love both cultures and this opera is some like conenction of both nations...Natali.

Kat'a Kabanova is in my opinion Janacek's greatest achievement and one of the most impressive masterpieces of twentieth century music. I cherish evry single note of it and I can't think of another opera that's so intense and full of emotion. If you're interested, but unfamiliar with this opera, do yourself a favor: first watch this nice introduction and then start exploring the unique beauty of Janacek's 'Kat'a Kabanova'.
