Ben Jones, a staple of Erik Paulson's teaching staff, visits the DamageControlMMA.com home gym in North Salt Lake and shares a nifty escape from bottom 69 position and the Monson Choke.
@Xaymot The reason that you havn't had injuries in your gym, is tributed to yourself as the trainer. When dealing with that kind of move one needs to be supercautious. If the practitioners are not skilled, and left without supervision, there's a disaster bound to happen.
@hfe22 In the past 3 years all of the injuries in my gym have been lower back injuries due to being stacked and injured knees from scrambling half guard tie ups. We allow all cranks and nobody has been injured because everybody is trained not to blast through them like an idiot. Do people are your gym pull kimuras as fast and hard as possible? Probably not, same issue of concern.
Wow.. look at all the bitching. If you don't like this move and think it's 'mean', maybe you ought to study judo?
If you respect yourself, and respect your training partners, you're the one doing the move, so you know what's coming... all you need to do is loosen up with the arm tension. Sheesh. What a bunch of babies.
That is a sicc crank at the end man! I've been using that chin lock bridge and pull for awhile but I didn't think of cranking the neck with the hold. Good job man and thanks veeerrrry much for sharing man!

Nice use of the roll into the chin-pick-twist half-nelson. The finish I've heard called a Chin Hook.
