Social critic Jeremy Rifkin talks about the next great economic revolution (in which he says Ontario is well placed to succeed), in his book "The Hydrogen Economy." Riftkin is also a fellow at the Wharton School's Executive Education Program, educating CEOs on new trends and their impact on the global economy.
Transporting electricity can be done through the internet because a computer is really electric data It`s in DC current. This can be done as a DC current then stored and converted to AC current. The transporting of electricity through the internet is the future. Splitting water id very easy. Big oil has to be put in there place and stop robbing us blind.

@markusbody3 wrong. the opposite is actually true. hydrogen can easyily and cheaply produced from biomass trough steam reforming in small hydrogen factories all around the country. effeciency factors are extraordinary high in fact on about 90 to 100%! costs for transport though a pipe system are much lower than electricity over power poles! it can be easily transported over the countries gas-system (so its possible in germany, not sure if in the us but i guess). its the future.

Hydrogen is the less efficient and Highly expensive compared to other renewable sources. Hydrogen will be used so it can maintain such a huge profit. The oil companies will simply change to hydrogen.
