  • I know the Audio at the beginning is German but to an English speaker it almost sounded like "Please get off the train at Pasduke" in an Australian accent to me.

  • @NeoFalcon69 - I think it's indeed English and says "Please get on the train for Maxfeld"

  • @MrRapidWien:

Nur als Tipp: Keiner der Fahrer wurde entlassen, sondern betriebsintern zu Fahrgastbetreuern umgeschult. Also nix mit Jobverlust.

  • @Lightforspirit It leaves at higher than normal speeds, and once in the tunnel maxes out at 70 kph. (45mph) which is quite fast for a machine of it's weight.

  • @timosha21 yes, this train is driven by a computer

  • so its driverless?

  • @tangarbage Despite the inevitable initial glitches which delayed the project other metro operators around the world were very interested. It doesn't exactly help to build completely segregated lines in cities like London, Paris or Moscow and countless others. They already have lines where they need it - a new line would be some sort of white elephant like some MRT - and they can't really close an entire for converting. It more of a practical approach than a question of aesthetics.

  • @tangarbage At least the french train you mentioned have rubber tyres. Complete packages would have been useless here as this is a branch line and the original line has already sufficient signaling equipment which can be retained to control interlockings and for fallback signaling. Platform screen doors would be extremely expensive and would have disrupted all service on the old main line during installation also some stations lie in a curve. All lines have track connections and share one yard.

  • so baut man nur arbeitsplätze ab!!!

  • @MrRapidWien

    Genau, inzwischen sind's 32
