  • Life of surprises is a superb song as well as pop as philosophy. Paddy McAloon not only wrote excellent music but also possesses impressive insights into the human condition. Lyrics to make you think and reflect, and music to make your heart sing are the Prefab Sprout stock in trade. You could spend several lifetimes listening to this band and still never get bored. All their music sound strong today, and hasn't been weathered by the passage of time like us mere mortals who listen to the stuff!

  • Paddy is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Thanks for uploading this song.

  • "You don't have to pretend you're not crying" - that line always made me well up

  • when it's even in the way that you're walking. thumbs up if you know what I mean big style! I love this song but...........

  • Sublime. Could listen to this all day.

  • superb.

  • should be louder.

  • @SuzLa1 Because he's so bloody earnest! It's the quality of his voice and yes, the pure sentiment that cuts through my modern cynicism. But you know what they say about cynics... they were once romantics of the first order. It's a cruel world and I've lived too many broken hearts with Prefab as my only solace. But another kernel of truth in this very same song, I'll try to let go the bitter.
