@Sumiland it doesnt help that the coast guard is so UNDERfunded that their helicopters spend more time in the maintenance hangar then in the air. The coast guard gets less .01% of the nation's annual defense budget.

I was on 2 H3's that went down, both out of Sitka. Also went down on one out of Annette Is.

When I was in a HH3F went down in SE Alaska. It made a emergency landing in a deserted area a few miles from a village. When the msg. was passed that a aircraft had gone down all the airsta apprared to be hushed until word was passed that the crew was safe and unharmed.

I don't think most of us realize that there has to be a lot of practicing in dangerous conditions to be prepared for the "real deal". The lives lost during practices are in service to us all.
