in fact thats only the maximum effective combat range, it could go further but its difficult because the laser wouldn't be able to see the target because they would effectively be over the horizon . . . .

@TheArbiter138 depends what you've heard about the range, generally it depends on ammunition used and which tank your talking about of course but generally soviet/russian tanks can generally match thier competitors in terms of range
in fact the most modern Russian tank using laser guided ammunition has an maximum effective range of 5-8km where the M1 abrams and the leopard 2 have a maximum effective range on about 3-4km
