  • i'm a type one diabetic, and currently i'm doing 4 shots a day. i'm beiginning to get curious about the pump, and my major question is...does the needle you use to insert the cannula on an insulin pump hurt less than/as much/more than the needles used to do insulin shots?

  • well I am not the diabteic....my 6 year old daughter is.....but according to her it does hurt a bit but its about the same in her opinion. We use the Unomedical Inset 30 which happens to be very quick as it has a springloaded mechanism which pretty much inserts itself. Some of the other brands must be inserted manually so I could hazard a guess they might hurt more? hope this help

  • is that one one the new Silhouette type Insets?? the picture wasn't very clear, but i thought it looked like one..?

  • No it is actually an Inset 30. Manufactured by Unomedical, the 30 referring to insertion at a 30 degree angle, good for ppl with little body fat.

  • i got accu check pump n it dosent not hurt at all not even on my hip.hope this helps.

  • she has th sam e name as me

  • Hi, if you still check your replies here I have an answer for you. I am a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump. In my experience using an insulin pump insertion set hurts less than taking shots. It's very nice because you only have to hurt yourself once every 2 or 3 days rather than 4 times/day. I haven't yet gotten a bruise from using the needle/cannula of my pump, and I used to get bruises a lot from shots. Hope this helps.

  • So far I have had no pain putting on the infusion set. The only problem I have had in the two weeks I have been wearing the Animas 2020 is my cat bit the tubing in half. We think he thought it was a snake coming toward me in bed and tried to protect me by biting it. Needless to say I miss the cat sleeping with me.

  • this video makes me remininse of what an anticipated day it was..for me to get my insulin pump! ;D i think it counts up there as one of the best days in a diabetic's life, lol... for me at least.

  • yup!, exactly what i thought!, i just couldn't remember the name of it. Cool! where do you get them from.. does Animas sell them? do you think you could make a video demonstrating the Inset30 and what it looks like and how it puts together and how you work it ..etc? i would love to get the up close details on the actual thing.. i've been to their website already but it does little to satisfy my curiosity. i'd like to see a video of it shown from every angle, and in action! ;D
