  • thanks for the mention rowland... i sure hope the book helps to tell lonnie's story and helps him get some of the recognition he so certainly deserves! i'm mighty glad i was able to use the photo of him in it! thanks to eddy and the entire family! - nate

  • @nathandgibson Nate It's us - the world of music fans - who owe you the Big thanks for all your hard work researching & writing your excellent book: The Starday Story.

  • The best link to Nathan Gibson's starday blog seems to be :- love-starday-starday

  • Hey Jimmy this your other uncle, I was 16 when this came out, a couple years ago I was playing Lonnie's songs with his brother Linwood at a festival on the Dan river in Eden..

I remember when Lonnie died a;; of us local teenagers were so proud that a homeboy was at the top of the charts.

  • @CharlieRight Great to get comments from Lonnie's family. Here's note from Nate's blog (Nathan Gibson) Lonnie only recorded 6 tunes for the Starday label and they are all fantastic. Lonnie’s brother, Eddy, sent me some wonderful pictures of Lonnie - included in my The Starday Story book and he was also kind enough to send me some of his own recordings covering Lonnie’s music. I will likely play a song from those demos in a later blog.

  • i cant belive this is my brothers great uncle

  • @jimmywaynejoiner Hi Jimmy. Please see the reply I did to your uncle Charlie about the recent book The Starday Story by Nathan Gibson. Seems that Lonnie's maybe finally likely to get the recognition he so deserves.

  • Pure Americana...and by far the best truck song ever written.

  • Hey i was wondering the chords to this please help?

  • Absolute best version of song I have ever heard! Every word sung with heart-felt emotion. Thanks for the post.

  • never heard this till now...after listening to it i have decided that it is hands down the best song i have ever heard

  • That has to be Allen Shelton on the banjo, so this record is a classic for that reason as well.

  • @CharlieRight well sorry I missed it. I only get to see Lynwood when go see Joseph on Irving Hill.. what a nice place to relax down there! Hope he plays some out there by the lake this year!
