Christian Rapper Lecrae Talks Tyler, The Creator & Odd Future

With a following of more than 500,000 on Facebook and Twitter, and a No. 3 ranking on the iTunes albums chart, Grammy-nominated Christian rapper Lecrae has reached beyond the religious community and into the mainstream. On Friday (September 30), I caught up with the Reach Records recording artist and co-founder during his 'Rehab' tour stop at the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Lecrae and I sat down to chat about the authenticity of his music in terms of hip-hop perspective, as well as Christian outlook; overcoming the misconceptions associated with his craft in order to encompass a mainstream audience; and even his thoughts regarding Odd Future. He went as far as to simulate a conversation between himself and the controversial collective's frontman Tyler, The Creator.

@SLIPKNOT4LIFE69 I think you're confused by what he means. He doesn't say Tyler can't have his own goals. He just says that because Tyler's goals are rooted in himself and not in God, they aren't objectively good, because for an Atheist objective morality doesn't exist. So an atheist can have goals, but in the end they are meaningless. I think Lecrae was clear enough when he said it, you calling him ignorant shows your ignorance on the subject of philosophy, which is what he was discussing.

Just because someone speaks about Jesus doesn't make them religious. Jesus Himself does not even like religion. Christianity is not a religion...Lecrae just has a relationship with God and His Son who saved our souls, Jesus Christ. Truth is no matter what, Tyler can't save his own soul or atone for his own sins...there's no getting around that, atheist or not.
