I remember when they ran this commercial a lot during the Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction, so I'm gonna guess it's from somewhere around 1967-68

  • I remember this game well. I miss the old games like this. Video games are fine and all, but I like the games where people sit around and play. Monopoly was my favorite but I liked this one as well.

  • Interesting how the music reflects the music of the time. Much more listenable than the wannabe rap of recent years. This ditty has been in my head for years and years.

  • @TheGabesnell - yeah, I noticed that too. I'm so surprised..the cute blonde boy was rich, the girl in the cat glasses went to the poor house, the nice looking girl had twins. Today I hope they added white color crime, bank failings, stock/IRA going bust, foreclosures, lose a turn for your cell phone dropping an important call, and online college degrees. Now there's the updated version of the game of Life!

  • BROKEN CONDOM IN THE GAME OF LIFE!!!!!

  • hahaha... guys are rich... then the girls haha... "i had twins" "i went to the poor farm..."

  • Wow - a classic commercial song! I was just thinking about the "Game Of Life" song today - it's been years since I've seen this commercial! Thanks for the post!

  • @RRaquello he wouldve highly endorsed it

  • What sinful purposes we kids put this game to. We used to ignore the game itself and just use the spinning wheel and the long strip of cardboard with the numbers 1—10 on it and play a form of roulette for real money. I mean when we were 8, 9, 10 years old. It was only for nickels, dimes, quarters, but that's all we had at the time. So, that's how we learned to gamble.

What would Art Linkletter have said?

  • but Sony Computer Entertainment changed all that in 1998 by asking Hasbro (the current owners of Parker Brothers) to release a original Playstation port of this "Game of Life" 1960s game in full color CD-ROM format by their Software Company, Hasbro Interactive (before Infogrames acquired Hasbro Interactive from Hasbro, Inc. in 2001 and changed its name to Atari Interactive in 2005).

  • I remember the color version of this commercial.

  • @DariusFranke Every now and then I find kids who are now adults and how they viewed their stardom. Especially the Mini Pops. As a bisexual I chose a same-sex spouse when I got married in the game.

It didn't help me but at least there were no objections.
