Up and coming band The Lampshades headlined Latitude 2007 on Sunday night.

Their short but sweet set was performed to a select invited audience of Kirsten, a yellow truck, several security guards and any of the random Latitude stragglers lucky enough to be looking in the right direction at the right time.

The security guards were particularly blown away by the intimacy of the set and congratulated the duo with handshakes. The build up from supporting acts including Arcade Fire and Jarvis Cocker must surely have added to the atmosphere.

Kirsten described the performance as "a remarkable example of how far you can get with a bit of cheek, a bit of charm, and a zest for living life." She went on to say:" Who would have guessed that a random approach by James to see if I knew if 'Guilty Pleasures' was still open would result in them headlining at Latitude! I hope James and Neil never accept that the party is over, and carry on looking for more."

One of the remarkable aspects of this extraordinary 'unplugged' triumph is that they performed without a drummer. Although they have been looking for someone who can bring drumming skills to enhance the current mix, maybe their success will leave them considering the possibilities of continuing to perform as a twosome.

Video footage of this performance - surely a highlight of Latitude 2007 for all who witnessed it - is archived on YouTube for the viewing pleasure of all. Due to technical difficulties sound quality is poor.

The Lip Balm Fairy.

The lampshades would like to thank the lip balm fairy for her kind invitation to headline the obelisk arena at this years latitude festival.

They are oft lauded in the indie press as the second best next thing and would love to thank their fan(s) for their wonderful support at their massive debut gig.

It was an easy crowd in Suffolk as they were still cheering Arcade Fire when the Lampshades went on. But with their hold steady like cry of, "e're the lampshades we're going to have a good time", the good times kept coming.

The lampshades have said, " with a bit of cheek, a bit of charm and a zest for living life nothing is ever beyond all hope and if not, rock n roll will help."

The band will also like to invite their fan(s) to their next gig, details of which will be shortly announced.
