John Henton & Wendy Hammers on Howie's Late Night Rush

John Henton has adopted South Lake Tahoe s his second home. As he says when he comes up here to perform, "I represent the South Lake area and I say to you now, what what?" Way before he became our spokesman for the lake (south part only) John appeared in numerous television shows including his own half-hour comedy special for Showtime called John Henton: Comedy With An Attitude and Comedy Centrals Premium Blend. He really became a fixture though when he starred on the successful FOX TV series, Living Single co-starring Queen Latifah. The show received stellar ratings and TV Guide selected Hentons character as one of the break out characters of the season. And if that wasnt enough Henton would garner further recognition when he signed up to play the character of Milsap on the sitcom, The Hughleys. That show gave Henton a huge and loyal following even to this day. When The Hughleys moved to UPN during its third season on Monday nights it was the anchoring program for the fledgling network and stayed there for another two years. Johns body of work was recognized in 2001 and 2002 with an NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Wendy Hammers is a 'newbie' to these parts having her debut both at The Improv up here as well as being on the Late Night Rush. She brought her son up (Griffin) with her for moral support but she's a seasoned pro. Wendy has been on HBOs The Sopranos giving Tony a bad time before giving Larry a bad time on Curb your Enthusiasm. She was instrumental in ticking off the late Bernie on The Bernie Mac Show (but in a kidding manner of course). On the big screen she played a lesbian who murdered her lesbian girlfriend (played by Kathy Griffin) in the Roger Corman slasher pic, The Unborn.But its her stand up that is really fun to experience. Wendy even teased daytime talk show icon Oprah Winfrey while teasing late nights Craig Ferguson and getting him to crack up on his show. Around the country she performs regularly in LA and Vegas and anywhere else that will pay her enough to make it worth her wild leaving her 10-year-old young old son in LA.
