A review of spaghetti western "The Silent Stranger" (aka "A Stranger in Japan" AKA "The Horseman and the Samurai") by Eric Zaldivar

The third installment (The Silent Stranger) of the ever popular Stranger series was directed by Luigi Vanzi.
Vanzi also directed the previous two Stranger films (also starring Anthony in the main role) "A Stranger in Town" and "The Stranger Returns".
The fourth, and final, installment of the series was directed by Ferdinando Baldi and was titled "Get Mean".
I'll review these eventually.

P.S. Mistake on my part... I said that the currency in Japan was "Yen". At the time the film takes place the currency was called "Ryo".
I also forgot to mention that this movie has, surprisingly, good sword fights.
GET THIS FLICK at xploited cinema!

Original Italian title is:
"Lo Straniero di silenzio"

EXTRA CORRECTION: I was told by Mr. Anthony himself that this is in fact a cut version of the film (the box says otherwise but I'm inclined to believe Tony, obviously).
He also confirmed my suspicion that the narration was not his idea and he hated it.
The uncut version does not have this narration.

  • Great review Eric, this movie is pretty much hardcore, yeah. I've seen parts scenes of this at a showing in the netherlands together with the junkman,it had no sound loved what i saw but i was pretty drunk. Ill revisit it if i cAN find the unbutcherd version of course

  • I sent you a PM Fatsobastardo.

  • Very good commentary but could have been scripted doing away from voice heistations like um and so on. If this is the uncut version how can I get a copy of the uncut version? Tony Anthony the stranger rocks. :O)

I agree. However I won't be able to do such a thing without some editing software of which I will soon get.

Writing it down and repeating it on camera wouldn't work either since I'm sitting in a dark room.

Check my profile where you can get information on where to purchase these items.

I'll send you a direct link to the dvd via PM.
