Michael Buerk with the first news bulletin of the millennium. Not surprising really the edition focuses mainly on the millennium celebrations both in the UK and abroad. Michael is clearly happy presenting the bulletin, practically shouting, in a jovial way, the welcome at the beginning! The Copyright in this video segment belongs to the BBC. © 2000 BBC

  • Ummm?? 5:37: "midnight came to the place were it all began 2000 years ago, to betlehem". buerk needs a history lesson. Jesus wasn't born in the year 1.

  • @BelgianGeneral

Yes, I take your point. I am sure Michael Buerk was simply reading from his 'Autocue' and probably did not write the script.

  • I was in Bristol for this, I had no idea what was happening!

  • @alexpbyron

Your comment made me laugh! is Bristol in a different time zone, did the year 2000 not happen there! Only joking I do understand what you meant, it just struck me as amusing, perhaps it is my warped sense of humour!.

  • Good news about Boris Yeltsin eh?

  • @steveOo0o

Steve, you were lucky then to be picked. The Dome was an amazing venue. I know it was heavily criticised, I certianly enjoyed my two visits there, and I had to travel from Hampshire. I too saw that Black Adder special, the BBC transmitted it a few years ago on either BBC2 or 3, I cannot remember which. Thanks for your comments.

    Regards,

  • @GLFVIDEO Yeah I was 9-10 at the time and I got picked out randomly, out of a lucky dip! It was a school trip so I didn't really get to see much. I went inside that human body, which was pretty cool. But for some reason, we went into the cinema there and watched black blackadder.

  • @steveOo0o

It certianly was a great place to visit. Now as the O2 Arena it's different.

  • I got to go to the millennium dome.

  • 2012 in some 11 and a half hours :)
