Daewoo Matiz gearbox

Daewoo Matiz gearbox problem diagnosed as a gearbox problem and it turned out to be the linkage. Worth checking as it is a one hour job compared with eight hours to change the gearbox. This cable is from a Mk1 2000 model.

Just to be clear on this, when I put the car in first it pulled the cable in when I pull it to second the lever moved back but the cable should go forwards but stayed firmly stuck with a springy feeling. Several tugs later it would pop out and I would get second.And the gear shift was all over the place alot of the time reverse was hard to get. Also check there is a small plastic block on the top of the shift select column mounted on the gearbox. Sometimes this breaks up giving similar problems.

No problem glad to be of help. I struggled to find info on this. Lot of ideas on this but no clear evidence. I hope this helps lots of people it seems to be quite common.
