  • Getting blood from cutting their nails is a horrible way to get the sample, since you don't want to draw blood if at all possible. The best way is through a vet taking a sample through a blood feather or some other means. If there is an accident with a blood feather, you can take the sample and immediately treat the problem to stop the bleeding. Losing blood is a serious problem with birds, and should be treated as such.

  • Basically, its just a good idea to have the vet do it and only very experienced aviculturists should try the method mentioned in the video.

  • you r a lucky lady

  • @parrotflock it is true, that is a cruel way to tell if you`re bird is male or female, not just because it hurts you`re bird, but because it discourages trust in you and you`re bird`s relationship....

  • lol it alot easier to tell if a grey cockatiel, or normal cockatiel is male or female....

    Grey Cokatiel:

    Male-yellow face

    Female-grey face

    Normal Cockatiel:

    Male-brightish yellow.

    Female-pale yellow

And what can the owner do to make it feel more comfortable so it can adapt quicker?

  • i am going to get my bird tested but i don't know if i should bring him in a cage or i should just let him ride on my shoulder like i always do when he comes with me to get food.

  • At the end the Cuckatoo attacked the small parrot.

  • @parrotflock I've heard that cornflower can stop bleeding with birds. That is, putting corn flower on the site of bleeding.
