The Frobisher Bay Volunteers in 1989 got back together to record all of the material they played in the mid 60's. The Marist College Media Center helped enormously by doing both the audio and video recording. We are forever in their debt.
The Frobi were a very popular folk/Irish group in the mid 60's. They played in the Hudson Valley, City Island, Long Island, Manhattan Island and of course at Marist College and several establishments long gone. Wherever they played the crowd joined in the songs.
The group had grand plans that were brought to a sudden closure in 1967 when the members realized some would have to the Army, like it or not. Ted Flynn joined the Coast Guard and later was named a Commodore, Jack Burke joined the Army and somehow got posted to Germany, Rich McKay and Bob Johnson did not get drafted and Bruce Magner joined the air force.
The group also played at server teach-in's and played with Tom Paxton.
Hope you enjoy these recordings -- we had a grand time making them.
