I think I am undecided on this - ultimately, I suppose, it doesn't make a difference to the reader whose name you have borrowed or if it is fictive altogether. But when you begin writing, and with begin I mean your early stages of a writing career, you tend to get your inspiration from your own life, something that is close to you, in a way an attempt of meaning-making of your own life. I guess that is the reason people want to keep the names of the real people that inspired their writing.

the problem with using real names is that you won't be able to show your story to those people whose moment in life you borrowed to invent your story around it. But personally it holds more meaning to oneself when you keep it.

What exactly do you mean when you say that "it holds more meaning to oneself when you keep it to yourself?" Do you mean that it is better to hide the name of the Real Person that inspired you to write the novel? .Or do you mean it is better to use a fictional name when writing a novel?
